Hello, my fellow Jandoli class of 1990 graduates,

I have loved seeing so many of you and the great places life has taken you through our connections on social media.  So many continue to be BONA STRONG in support of our beloved Jandoli School of Communication and St. Bonaventure University.  Please consider joining a few of us for the 75th anniversary of the Jandoli School, Murphy renovation groundbreaking, and the Hellinger Award event on campus this fall, October 19th.

It’s time to renovate Jandoli School’s home in the Murphy Building (Mecom) with a unique opportunity to leave our legacy as the AMAZING Jandoli Mass Comm Class of 1990.

I am personally appealing to fellow members of the Class of ’90 with the hope you will consider a class gift in our name and a tribute to one of the best, “Oh Pater Noster,” Dr. Jandoli, as one of his last graduating classes. Let’s do this by his birthday August 16, 2024, in honor of him, then celebrate in October!

I recall the red mark-ups on my first assignment from Dr. Jandoli after writing our obituary; how clever (I thought) indicating I slipped on ice at the Niagara Falls observation deck, then plunged to my death.  Dr. J’s feedback was positive, but speculated about ice really being on the ground in September; “Always pay attention to the details,” he said.  So many lessons were learned in those halls. I am the person I am today because of it.  The memories of our classes and the late nights at the BV are fond…and, well, the easy access to the ATM for Friday nights (if I’m being honest).

While several indoor classroom naming opportunities are left at $25k, the outdoor classroom belongs to ’90 at $50k.  We know where we gathered; our legacy is to ensure future Bonnies connect in front of Jandoli, too. Let’s name the outdoor patio/ teaching space upon the building’s entrance. The challenge is on, gang! This is OUR opportunity.

If you are as passionate as I am, please consider giving at any level; $1,000, $5,000, or $10,000.  Your gift can be a pledge payable over five years.  A $10k gift receives individual recognition on the donor wall at the new entrance.  Two committed $10k matches have been made, so EVERY gift helps achieve our goal.  The University is grateful and the Dean of Jandoli, Aaron Chimbel, will proudly speak with anyone about this transformation.

"Among the many lessons I learned from Dr. Jandoli was the awesome power of words. Just words. When properly employed, words help us to contemplate the human experience in all its complex wonder." ~Dan Barry, Class of 1980

I hope you are excited about the CLASS OF 1990 Jandoli gift and join me in making it happen. This is a singular opportunity to be part of something special. Let’s be bold. Let’s do this! #Unfurl.

With Bona Love,

Julie (Kalata) Sheedy; proud member of the class of 1990
